Chapel of Maria of Consolation

Highlight • Religious Site

1750

The St. Johannes Chapel, also known as the "Hermann Gollwitzer Memorial Chapel", is located on Neustädter Straße at the entrance to Floß. The chapel became a "place of prayer, inner contemplation, rest and tranquility". The bell rings the morning, noon and evening prayers every day. The little church is open during the day and has become even more important thanks to the adjacent Bockl cycle path.
It was built in 1995 by the Gollwitzer family.

No highlight but worth knowing. The Radl service area has no shady parking space and the saddle is fully exposed to the sun. After no guests were there, we have our wheels in a day with about 30 degrees in the shade. We had to remove the wheels there, with the hint, that's what everyone does. Pretty unfriendly and on hot days not suitable for parking the wheels, as burning on the butt.

The 52 km long Bockl cycle path runs on the former railway line from Neustadt an der Waldnaab via Floß and Vohenstrauss to Eslarn. Family-friendly, because there are no major inclines, it leads from the Waldnaab Valley through the nature park to the Bohemian Forest. Further information, including the Bockl cycle path shuttle bus, can be found at: bocklradweg.de
