Black Mountain forms an open plateau in Monte Bello Open Space preserve with undisturbed views in all directions, from Silicon Valley in the East to the Pacific Ocean in the West.
Great flowing mountain bike trails and fire roads go in all directions from here into the neighboring open space preserves along Skyline Ridge and Page Mill Road.

For a pleasant tour involving Black Mountain that starts from Page Mill Road and loops along the higher ridges without having to climb up all the way from the valley, try komoot.de/tour/9921718

Sag Pond in Monte Bello Open Space Preserve

Highlight • Lake

This pond rests atop the San Andreas Fault, causing an indentation that later filled up from an underground spring. Unfortunately, the water isn't easily visible due to the overgrowth of cattails in the area. Nonetheless, it remains a beautiful natural spot worth the effort to explore.
