Dove Cottage offers an intimate look at the life of William Wordsworth. It was here that many of his finest poems were created, often inspired by the detailed descriptions of their surroundings captured by his sister Dorothy, who shared the Cottage with her brother, wife and children. Truly worth a visit!

Highlight • Lake

Great spot and fairly easy to get to without too much walking. If the weather is good, then you can see far beyond the valley.

Alcock Tarn

Highlight • Lake

After the trail has been abandoned and the descent to Grassmere has begun, this small, idyllic mountain lake called "Alcock Tam" invites you to linger. The ducks that inhabit it are surprisingly trusting. A wonderful place to enjoy a moment of peace and to gather strength for the last stage of the round trip.

Much easier to approach from the south. Route up alongside the ghyll is quite steep

Bench With a View of Lake District Hills

Highlight (Segment) • River

At begging is the river makes the imprint with path getting steeper. Rock path, a tiny bit of mud / soil (depend on weather) with a bench to catch your breath. As you get higher and higher the view opens over lake district hills. It is the most difficult start but well worth it once you're up at the Alcock Tarn

Room for about 5 cars with free parking just before the bridge when you come into Grasmere.
Steep climb to start with but all well paved. Good views at the top and nice tarn to dip in.
