St. Martin's Parish Church, Aldrans

Highlight • Religious Site

The parish church of Aldrans is located in the municipality of Aldrans in the Innsbruck-Land district in the state of Tirol. The patronage of St. The Roman Catholic parish church subordinated to Martin von Tours belongs to the Wilten-Land deanery in the diocese of Innsbruck. The church and the cemetery are under monument protection (list entry).

Initially it was a branch of the Ampass parish church, which had been incorporated into Wilten Abbey since 1256. In 1365 a church was mentioned in a document. The church was consecrated in 1426 and 1482. The Gothic church building was baroque in the middle of the 18th century and redesigned in 1891 and after a fire in 1893. In 1966/1967 a renovation was carried out with the architect Hans Loch and in 1967 it was elevated to the status of a parish church.

The Gothic church building is oriented to the south and surrounded by a cemetery wall. On the west side of the nave are the modern additions of a side portal with a chapel for the dead and a sacristy under the towering roofs, which are clearly delimited by a glass strip.

In the choir, instead of an altar structure, there is a choir organ from 1974. The crucifix in the choir, the figure of Immaculata on the triumphal arch and the Way of the Cross were created by the sculptor Rupert Reindl (1967). The altar is a work by Rudolf Millonig from 1990. The Bavarian relief St. Martin with beggar around 1520 on the right in the nave was exchanged in 1967 with the Tyrolean State Museum for a pulpit from Wengen in Enneberg by the sculptor Dominikus Moling.

Herzsee

Highlight • Lake

The Herzsee was formerly approved as a bathing lake - today it is known for its fish farming. In addition, you can walk here great. Many, partly marked paths offer all sorts of possibilities here. The lake itself offers itself for a small breather. Then you can watch the anglers a little or guess the heart shape of the water surface with your imagination.
