Stany Railway Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

It's nice to ride a bike over the bridge where a train used to run 😀, I recommend taking a ride in the evening because the atmosphere is great and the entire bridge is lit 👍

The bridge was built in 1905 by the Beuchelt company from Zielona Góra. At both ends of the bridge, two sets of brick watchtowers - blockhouses in the form of neo-Gothic towers - were placed on pillars. The two-story watchtower buildings, located on both sides of the track, were connected by 12-meter posterns and had their own water intakes (wells). On February 3, 1945, the middle span of the bridge was blown up by retreating German troops. After the war, the bridge was rebuilt in 1955. The above-ground part of the watchtowers on the eastern side of the bridge was demolished.

The bridge operated until the mid-1990s. The railway connection between Wolsztyn and Nowa Sol was broken during the flood in 1997 as a result of water destroying the tracks near the village of Bobrowniki.

For years, efforts have been made to use the bridge for tourist purposes.

At the end of 2019 (expected completion of works) it will serve as a part of a bicycle trail. Cyclists will follow the closed railway line No. 371 Wolsztyn - Żagań,

October 2019 - already put into operation :-)).

Kultura Otyń Station

Highlight • Cafe

A restored railway station, with an on-site café serving delicious "Malinowa chmurka" cake. Right next to the asphalt bike path, this old station is surrounded by smooth, former German cobblestones. Of course, there are also areas where they imitate the famous Roubaix. The cobblestone section is approximately 200 meters long.

The Lipiny Odrzańskie railway station was established together with the construction of railway line no. 275, connecting Wrocław with Gubin. This line was crucial for the region, enabling passenger and freight transport. The section through Lipiny Odrzańskie was launched at the end of the 19th century, or more precisely in 1876, when the section from Rudna Gwizdanów to Nowa Sól was opened.

For years, Lipiny Odrzańskie station played an important role for the local community. It was a point from which residents commuted to work, school or markets, as well as a place where agricultural and industrial goods were loaded and unloaded. The station building usually housed a ticket office, waiting room and apartments for railway employees.

After World War II, railway line no. 275 came under the management of the Polish State Railways (PKP). For many years, passenger and freight traffic was maintained. However, over time, in the face of the development of road transport and a decrease in the number of passengers, the importance of local rail connections began to decrease.

Finally, at the beginning of the 21st century, passenger traffic on the section through Lipiny Odrzańskie was suspended. The last passenger trains ran on this line until 2004, after which it was withdrawn from regular traffic.
