Test Road

Highlight • Bridge

The so-called experimental road is a former military road. Here you walk for about 300 meters over different natural stone, granite and concrete paving along typical field crops (see information board) to the subsequent, consisting of eleven structures bridge complex. Unfortunately, the poor condition of this bridge system is no longer the norm of public roads. There is a high risk potential, therefore follow the floodplain path (small signpost with white arrow), which leads past the bridges on the right about 50 meters over the Altdeich and then turns left into the original floodplain. On this section, surrounded by deadwood, mosses and mushrooms, you can see on the meadow of Solitaire spreading out before you, on the left the old bridge system and at the end you cross a small hornbeam grove. From there, the path leads to the right via a concrete slab path to the "Elbe" sign bridge with a wide view of the river.

The Elbe Auen Rundweg leads past historical objects, but also past a lot of nature in the floodplains and of course along the Elbe.

Elbe Meadow

Highlight • River

Parallel to the river, you will walk along typical meadows such as willow, hawthorn and sloe, where you can hear tree frogs calling in the summer months. While you can see protected so-called softwood stands on the opposite bank of the Elbe, on the right you can see the arch foundations of old military fortifications, which are overgrown with a layer of herbs and shrubs and lined with a poplar avenue.

Roßlau Castle

Highlight • Castle

Already 800-600 BC. there was a hill fort here. The oldest parts of the current castle date from before 1400. The castle burned down completely in 1870 and was only repaired in the 1920s.

Floodplain Trail

Highlight • Trail

The Auenpfad Oberluch Roßlau is one of the largest floodplain projects with more than 30 signs and information boards. The circular route starts in Roßlau east of the B187 near the castle. The entrance panel to the approximately four-kilometer-long floodplain path is at a fork in the road, which leads on the right to the castle and on the left over the "Küchenbreite" after about 130 meters to the first sign bridge (2 boards) with map and information on the circular route. From there you follow the path about 150 meters to the dike, past a small water with information board to the Elbe beaver and fresh Biberfraßspuren.
