Lenzen is a 2000-inhabitant place in the Prignitz in the extreme northwest of Brandenburg. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the state borders of Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

In addition to the lovingly restored and romantic old town Lenzen is mainly known for its Hauptwache with the town hall, the St. Catherine's Church, the blunted tower with remains of the old city wall and the striking castle. The 24-meter-high castle tower is the remainder of a castle dating back to around 1200. In 1996, the castle was donated to the BUND, which has since become a European center for floodplain ecology.
