Innerste Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

For me, the Innerster Cycle Path between Wildemann and Langelsheim is one of the most beautiful cycle paths in the Goslar district. It doesn't run directly along the road, even though it's right next to it for most of its stretch. However, since it runs along the former railway line, the path is secluded enough and lined with trees to allow you to cycle through beautiful nature.

Structures

The dam of the Innerste Dam is an earth dam with a multi-layered, external asphalt concrete seal. It has an inspection passage in the water-side hearth wall along its entire length. In front of the water-side foot of the dam there is a flood overflow tower, into which the bottom outlet is also integrated. The water from the Innerste Dam can be pumped via a 4.6 km long pressure pipe to the Grane Dam to the east, where it can be used to treat drinking water. From 2003 to 2005 the dam was completely drained and the asphalt seal and bottom outlet in particular were renovated; the construction work was completed in September 2005.

Nice view of the Innerstetalsperre. The Harzerwandernadel stamping station (HWN 102) was relocated to the location control room - a few more meters up the mountain. You will be rewarded with a grandiose view over the innermost valley.

The Wolfshagen village church is one of the most famous buildings in town and was built in 1858 in the neo-Gothic style by Hermann von Schwerin. The exterior of the church is decorated with many decorations. Next to the main portal under tracery canopies there are sandstone figures of Luther and Calvin. The interior of the church has changed little since its completion. Today weddings and concerts take place in the church. From here we walk towards the shore of the Haussee. After 250 m we see the Monument to the Wars of Liberation (erected in 1828) on a hill on the right. From here you have a beautiful view over the lake. On our way along the lakeshore we soon pass several natural swimming areas that invite you to jump into the cool water. At the end of the lake we pass a small bridge, keep left and continue walking along the lake towards the village. At a fork, the Wolfshagen forester's lodge is on the right.
