Highlight • Restaurant

Hamester is a classic village inn with classic cuisine, of which there are unfortunately less and less.

This narrow path is quite hidden and it's easy to walk past it if you don't know it. Documentation is also difficult with photos because it is difficult to see the path. In the northern area of the NSG there is only this one narrow and somewhat hidden entrance/exit.
So keep your eyes open, otherwise you won't find your way in or out of here.

Gut Lanken

Highlight • Historical Site

Gut Lanken is located in the middle of the 256 hectare nature reserve. The historic manor house and the impressive granary were built around 1732 and are listed buildings. Unfortunately, not much else has been preserved about the history of the Lanken estate.
The nature reserve, which consists of two areas, is located northeast of Schwarzenbek. It includes part of the former “Lanken” training area, which was around 600 hectares in size and was used until the end of 1994, with the Lindhorst and Ahrenshorst forests as well as part of the upper reaches of the Steinau with its bank areas.
It is characterized by a variety of habitats, including open and semi-open landscapes with pioneer lawns, mineral grass fields, herbaceous edges, small bodies of water and wet grassland with interspersed woody areas and kinks as well as moist and wet forests. Some areas within the nature reserve are used for agriculture. Abandoned former agricultural land is being taken over by successional fauna.
The Steinau lowlands in the north of the nature reserve are still partly close to nature.
In the nature reserve, the different habitats include: Silver grass, small hawkweed, cowslip and swamp iris can be found. The nature reserve is the habitat of various species of birds and amphibians, grasshoppers and dragonflies, including skylarks, partridges, tree frogs, green hayhorses and blue-green mosaic damselflies.
Unfortunately, in 2012, a large part of the area was converted into a huge "solar park". This area is therefore no longer accessible to the public.
Fortunately, a lot of beautiful nature has been preserved all around, which is ideal for bike tours or hikes.

Lanken Valuable Timber Yard

Highlight • Structure

A lot of valuable wood is stored here and waiting to be transported away. Among other things, veneers are peeled from the tree trunks for the surfaces of high-quality furniture. Whether they are suitable for this can be examined in detail here on site before purchasing.
Currently (January 28, 2024) the place is well filled with fresh wood again.
If you need something right now... there's still a lot to choose from.😉

Here is an interesting link to the valuable wood yard:

Old Steinau Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The path between Lanken and Möhnsen leads over this beautiful historic bridge over the Steinau. The Steinau leads clean water and is not deep, so that both humans and animals can cool their feet / paws well.

Village Pond Basthorst

Highlight • Lake

Idyllic little pond that spontaneously invites you to take a relaxing rest on one of the two benches. The pond is right next to the historic Stamer farm from 1803 and also serves as a fire extinguishing pond. Conveniently, the fire station is right next to it.
