I have climbed both from Vega de Espinareda (road) and from Villafranca del Bierzo (road + track + path), both climbs are spectacular in terms of mountain landscapes, but if I have to choose, I would choose the climb from Villafranca. Getting lost in the Ancares Leoneses is always a great plan, it does not disappoint, until not many years ago one of the most isolated areas of Spain.
