The Arvigrat runs along the border of the cantons of Nidwalden and Obwalden. The whole way is a nice tightrope walk. The route only occasionally has somewhat narrower passages and therefore requires a little surefootedness and a certain head for heights, but everything is within normal limits. Starting from the Ächerli, the path first leads through wooded terrain. With the steady ascent towards the high point of the Arvigrat, the view increases more and more, and you can enjoy a fantastic view. Ächerli Pass

The Ächerli Pass is a small connecting pass at 1458m between the two half-cantons of Nidwalden and Obwalden and leads from Dallenwil to Sand near Kerns. This pass has historical significance. When Napoleon invaded Switzerland in 1798, he was stopped at the Stanserhorn massif and was unable to cross over to Nidwalden. When the revolutionary army captured some Alpine farmers, they betrayed the crossing to Nidwalden via Ächerli to Napoleon.
