Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Nice climb with a great view. Unfortunately, as good as no shade.

The Hohfels also called "high rock", is a tertiary limestone reef with an open to the east cave, which also has an opening to the top and the mountain side has a narrow passage. Due to the strong growth of shrubs on the marly mixture of clay and finely divided lime around the eastern side of the excavated limestone, it is not easy to get to the karstified cave. Getting there is difficult, but not impossible, because from the Ritterstein on the wine trail always straight ahead you will find after about 200 meters a narrow path through the bushes cut trail.

This rock is still a bit scary for me, since I visited it for the first time shortly before it collapsed. ( No , I am not overweight ;-) )

- If you stay here a bit, you can get an impression of why this rock was such a good address for our ancestors.
Well protected, close to the water and a view of the plain, it is definitely an almost perfect base camp for early hunting nomads.

The spatial proximity of the federal sandstone and limestone formation is geologically interesting.

Asselheimer Kelterhaus

Highlight • Historical Site

The baroque wine press building from 1604 is one of the oldest buildings in town. Privately owned since construction. Listed as a historical monument since 1988. The half-timbered building with a stone base rests on a barrel-vaulted cellar.
As a community center owned by the city of Grünstadt.

The St. Elisabeth Chapel was built around 1300. In 1496 this was elevated to the status of a church and the watchtower was converted into a church tower.
The church that burned down in World War II was rebuilt in 1949.
