St. Bernhard Church, Niersbach

Highlight • Religious Site

The branch church is a simply plastered quarry stone building and was built in 1808.
The high altar and bell from 1686 come from the Himmerod monastery. The wooden high altar is in
Form of a large curve with a tabernacle worked.
The church underwent extensive interior and exterior renovations in 1963.
At that time, the artificial stone flooring was also laid and the paintings were painted over with predominantly white paint.
During the interior renovation in 1993, a large part of the still existing historical room setting came to light.
The exposed remains of the ornamental paintings were sufficient to repaint them.
The parish commissioned a restorer to restore the ceiling paintings.
In 1995 another renovation took place, the tower was renewed, covered with slate and the church was given a new coat of paint.
In 1996 a new electronic organ was purchased. In 2001 the steel bell was replaced by 2 new bronze bells. One was dedicated to St. Bernard.
It weighs 170 kg and sounds like "it". The other was consecrated to Our Lady. It weighs 100 kg and sounds like a "total". The baroque high altar and the associated ones
Figures were restored in 2003.

A flower strip is a strip of land sown with seeds of mostly colorful flowering plant species, usually on the edge of a field, which is intended to promote local biodiversity. Flower strips are usually created by farmers as part of agri-environmental measures, but there are also those created by private initiatives, nature conservation associations or public bodies, which can then also be located within settlements (in the urban environment).
