The Jupiter Column in Butterstadt dates back to the 2nd century of our era. The remains of the original column were recovered at the beginning of the 20th century archaeologically. The replica, which today towers over the village square at a height of about five meters, dates from 2006. An informative panel explains the symbolism: The capital shows Jupiter fighting the giant, with the four seasons facing the four directions of the sky. The foot of the pillar forms a so-called four-god stone, above the so-called Wochengötterstein with another eight half reliefs.
