Here you can come in and strengthen yourself. It is very nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly.

View of Arzkarsee

Highlight • Viewpoint

The lake cannot yet be seen from the Mutegg summit cross. The best view unfolds on the ascent behind the ski area. The descent at the ski area is recommended.

Mutegg Summit

Highlight • Summit

The ascent to Mutegg is a great hike. The ascent on the west side of the summit is a little more challenging than the east side. If you want to do a circular hike, I recommend the ascent via the west and the descent via the east. The hike requires average fitness, a head for heights, but otherwise no special alpine experience - it is therefore also suitable for less experienced summiteers (in good weather).

Rosslahnerscharte

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Very nicely laid out hiking trail, which also requires some sure-footedness. Inexperienced hikers should go up rather than down. Top prospect for reward.

The Arzkarsee (also Arzkar reservoir, sometimes also Arzker reservoir, Italian Lago Quaira) is a reservoir above the Ulten Valley northwest of St. Nicholas in South Tyrol. It lies at an altitude of 2250 m, making it the highest reservoir in the Ultental area after Grünsee.

Its gravity dam is 85 meters high and has a crown length of 464.8 meters. Their total volume is 610,000 m³. The 3,257 m high peak of the Hasenöhrl rises about 2.5 kilometers west of the lake. Its glacier area with Hasenöhrlferner and Kuppelwiesferner supplies the water for the lake. Its water area covers around 30 hectares[1] with a storage capacity of 12.6 million cubic meters.

Lake Arzkar was built between 1965 and 1966 as the last of the reservoirs for the hydroelectric power plants in the Ulten Valley. From there, a pressure tunnel leads to the Kuppelwieser Alm power plant, 358 meters below. 13 cubic meters of water per second generate an output of 42 megawatts in the turbine there.

The system also works as a pumped storage plant, in which water can be pumped up from the Weißbrunnsee into the Arzkarsee using a high-performance pump during low-consumption times, up to 8.5 m³/s.

The Arzkarsee dam can be crossed on the top of the wall.[2]
