Pian delle Farcadizze

Highlight • Viewpoint

Pian delle Farcadizze, above Faedis and not far from Canebola, is located at an altitude of 780 meters and is a well-known crossroads for those who cycle or walk on the slopes of Mount Joànaz. Porzus is also not far away, the place where a massacre occurred in February 1945, considered one of the most tragic and controversial of the Italian Resistance. In these areas it is very easy to find fresh spring water to quench your thirst.

At an altitude of 780 meters, this well-known intersection of all kinds of main routes is located. It is practically a saddle from which wide views are possible to the south into the Friulian region and to the north in the direction of Stol. The former military road to Stol is also clearly visible. Memorable events took place in this area during both World Wars. A church and a monument bear witness to this time. Furthermore, the intersection point is very suitable for a short rest.

View from Monte Joanaz

Highlight • Viewpoint

The point indicated is not located right on the top (which is surrounded by vegetation and offers no panorama) but on the center of a large lawn that allows a 360 ° view of the Julian Islands, the nearby Matajur and Stol, the Friuli plain up to the coast and the sea. You can easily go up a wide cart track (cutting across the lawn at the end) reserving for the descent the fast singletrack that runs along the ridge: it will almost seem to soar towards the plain and towards the sea!

From Faedis go up to Canebola. After the town, at the first bend (on the left), you park (only one place. Otherwise, either leave the car in Canebola, or get to Bocchetta Sant'Antonio) From the bend, you will find the indication for Bocchetta, from which take a visible track towards the EAST. It is sent. 765 which will lead us …

Loop tour going up clockwise. Going up, a new forest road (not present on the Tabacco map) misled me, losing the path and so I had to go up by orientation to join the right road. The Garmin says: total ascent mt 443, km 9,900
