The breakthrough at Pfäffikon / Hurden is so wide and high that the steamships of the ZSG can also get through here (even if they have to put down the mast and lower the chimney!)

Rapperswil Harbour

Highlight • Structure

Next to Lachen, the harbor of Rapperswil is certainly the most beautiful on Lake Zurich - culinary offerings and impressive sunsets included.

Heilig Hüsli Chapel, Rapperswil
Heilig Hüsli, the bridge chapel at the former bridgehead of the historic wooden bridge Rapperswil–Hurden
The sacred building was erected in its current form as a stone structure in 1551, at the northern bridgehead of the lake bridge, the former access at today's Fischmarktplatz to the old town of Rapperswil, which was walled until 1836. The chapel stands on a substructure about four meters high, measures only 2 x 3 meters, with a roof height of about three and a half meters, with a west-facing apse in which a miraculous image was exhibited. A wooden bridge chapel in Rapperswil was first mentioned in 1485; however, it is most likely that a chapel was already built on this section of the Way of St. James with the construction of the lake bridge in 1360.

Wooden bridge Rapperswil-Hurden
The Rapperswil–Hurden wooden bridge refers to the prehistoric lake crossings in the area of the Seedamm as well as historical bridge structures, such as the wooden bridge built between 1358 and 1360 on behalf of Rudolf IV (Rudolf the Spirited) of Habsburg-Austria and new buildings that could be used until 1878. These created a pedestrian and wagon connection between Rapperswil and Hurden in the area of the upper Lake Zurich.
