Three Shires Head Stone Bridge and Waterfalls

Highlight • Viewpoint

Three Shires Head is the Grade II listed stream bridge (or waterfall, accounts differ) which marks the intersection of three counties; Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire.

The run around cut-thorn hill to here is an entertaining blast, too; not too techy but lots of fun, and it finishes here - one of the best picnic spots for miles.

Enjoy this place for a wild swim, with clear plunge pools and waterfalls here in the River Dane.

Cumberland Clough Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Please ignore Tino's comment on Cumberland Clough, he clearly does not know of what he speaks. Perfectly rideable on any decent xc bike with some off road experience. Yes it's rocky and not without challenge but it's mountain biking in the peak District.....what do you expect?

Magnificent view of the reservoirs and the start point for a stoney & loose downhill gravel track for bikes only.

Charity Lane

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

Charity Lane is an ancient, unimproved lane running across the top of Macclesfield Forest. It starts off wide open and smooth, and gets progressively rockier the further foes you get towards Chapel House Farm. In the winter it's a real snow trap, which can be a delight or a nightmare, depending on how warm your socks are.

Old Coach Road (Macclesfield to Buxton)

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This is the old coach road which used to run between Macclesfield and Buxton. It's still clad in its 18th century road surface, so it's pretty easy going on a mountain bike.

The road's been there a lot longer than that, though. It's since been superseded for auto traffic by the A537, which is less steep.
