The Hentschel locomotive of the former Army Feldbahn (H: F), which has already been restored three times, is the highlight of the Stumpfwaldbahn. An army field railway locomotive is a special war locomotive for use on army field railways. -
With a year of construction from 1939, our Henschel Fabia is one of the younger and last steam locomotives. In the same year it was delivered to the German Wehrmacht for the Rehagen railway pioneers as HF 5 026. In 1946 it was parked near Nuremberg with many other HF locomotives. The machines were sold there as bridge goods. In 1947 her last years of work began in the Bavarian lignite industry in Schwandorf-Wackersdorf (Upper Palatinate) until 1960. She was parked with two other Henschel machines at scrap dealer Eckhard Schwarzenfeld (Upper Palatinate). In 1981 it was found there, bought up and made ready for operation again through laborious work. In 1982 she was able to drive on her own for the first time in Frankfurt's Rebstockpark (FFM). In 2018 we were able to acquire and transfer the steam locomotive. At the age of over 80, she is now panting along our route and enthuses young and old. Source: Stumpfwaldbahn

Seehaus Forelle at Eiswoog

Highlight • Restaurant

Delicious food (note: the restaurant is a bit upscale, but price-performance ratio suits me). There is also a small snack bar at the lake (French fries, Saumagen rolls, etc., coffee and cake, ice cream, ...)
There you sit comfortably and you can even swim in the lake.

Rahnenhof Naturefriends House

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Naturfreundehaus Rahnenhof is located in the middle of the Palatinate Forest and Northern Vosges nature park and biosphere reserve. Our 44 rooms are equipped with 1 to 4 beds and all have a shower and toilet, some also have a balcony and telephone. Bowling alley, billiards, sauna, mini golf course, children's playroom, Kneipp facility and many other leisure activities are part of the Rahnenhof and ensure that there is no chance of boredom even in bad weather.

The Rahnenhof is an ideal starting point for many attractive hikes in the largest contiguous forest area in Germany. Well-signposted paths invite you to take your first exploratory walks or go on longer tours. But of course, with us it doesn't just have to be just hiking: If you want to get to know the Palatinate and the surrounding area with its diverse options, you've come to the right place.
