Giant Axe Head Stane (Glentrool)

The 7 Stanes are MTB trail areas in the south of Scotland. Each one has a 'stane' (stone) and it's well worth seeking them all out. A good array of levels from red runs (advanced) to blue (beginner).

Loch Dee

Highlight • Viewpoint

Loch Dee is a pretty lake with little islands in the middle. It’s surrounded by mountains and very beautiful. Make sure you bring enough food and water if you plan to come here. There’s nothing for miles around! It’s 7 miles (11 km) one way to Glentrool, 8 miles (13 km) to the next village in the other direction, and 10 miles (16 km) to St John's Town of Dalry, where I finished that day.
