Limestone Pavement Near Clints Crags

Highlight • Natural Monument

A stretch of limestone pavement on an escarpment close to Clints Crags. From this vantage point you can see Skiddaw, Ullock Pike, Dodd and even Helvellyn. The limestone is covered in moss and is actually certified a Site of Special Scientific Interest for conservation as it supports a wide ranging number of rare calcareous species of flora and fauna.

Clints Crags Summit

Highlight • Summit

Clints Crags offers a special view to the south east, down Bassenthwaite Lake in the shadow of the mighty Skiddaw (mountain). The fell itself is only 245m in height and can be easily walked from Blindcrake, a charming little west Cumbria countryside village. The summit is marked with a tiny cairn next to a very small quarry. We gave the cows a wide berth on the ascent as they looked a little bit twitchy.
