January 4, 2025,A very Icy Dove Crag part of Simonside
Only a small walk along Simonside today as my friend was recovering from a bad flu and could only go so far. I did share my micro spikes so we each had one foot to not slip. Worked really well.
The trees that are damaged in the picture were taken out by storm Awren a couple weeks ago when the region experienced it's worst wind storm in years. Northumberland got hit with 98mph winds and thousands of trees were blown down or snapped. This wood has been devestated but the storm and you can see not many trees survived
Lovely walk over the rolling moors of the Simonside Hills. Many thanks to @The Wandering Fiona for the inspiration!
