Hard road ride. Very good fitness required. Mostly well-paved surfaces and easy to ride. The starting point of the route is right next to a parking lot.

This route was planned by komoot.
A Tenerife classic and my first day tour on the island. From Los Gigantes we went straight into the impressive Masca Gorge - a real challenge for legs and lungs, especially for someone like me who is otherwise only used to the flat Brandenburg. The planned route to Punta de Teno unfortunately fell victim to the road closure, but the coastal town of Garachico made up for it with its charm. An unforgettable experience that makes your legs burn, but is worth every bead of sweat!
Drove to Tamaimo for the 3rd time (lucky!!) - hopped on the bike and warmed up on the 5 km climb to Santiago del Teide, which is one of my favourites! Then over to Masca, which had some incredibly steep ramps (up and down!). A beautiful descend into Buenovista del Norte, filled up the bottles and then climbed towards Erjos, which is insanely steep at the start but then turns out to be a beautiful 20km 6-8% climb (mainly) - just perfect but long! Descending back to Santiago where I decided I haven't had enough and added a tiny extra 2.5 km climb and then descended back to Tamaimo. A fantastic day - exactly what I had hoped for here... 🥰 Oh yes, and absolutely no pain in my back or pelvis today! Yay. 😊 8 weeks ago I was in a dark place with my fractured pelvis - I didn't dare hoping that I would be able for this now. 🏔️ Mirador Cherfe 🏔️ Cruz de Hilda 🏔️ Mirador de Barácan 🏔️ Las Manchas (New)
The Masca Valley is breathtaking in every way 🥰 Steep down, steep up and full of cars 🤷♀️ The gradient is quite special 😅 and the many cars and the narrow road were a real challenge for our brakes and nerves 🤪 Somewhere behind the village of Masca it was more relaxed again - but not easier ☠️ At some point there was a bang and my engine burst 🥵💥
