The Zouweboezem, an area of 118 hectares, was formerly used as a storage place for excess polder water. The reed plots…

This route was planned by komoot.
Beautiful autumn walk near Ameide A stretch along the Lek! Had the Klompenpad. Seen a lot again It was lovely weather.
Today a walk along the leak. Parked in Ameide, unfortunately Komoot indicated paths with no access. But we made a nice walk, and the weather was lovely.
Lovely varied hike along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Lek River. Then you walk through meadows and wetlands where special birds can be spotted. The walk is highly recommended. I already saw the walk passed by several Komoot friends. Thanks!
What a beautiful area this is, the Zouweboezem. Today was our first time here. It was wonderful with the sunshine. It took a while to get there, though, because we had to arrange help for a cow that had fallen into the ditch. A poor little creature, but it seemed to be doing well after being rescued. The second part of the walk went through the floodplains of the Lek River. We really enjoyed it, but we weren't entirely sure if this was a legal path. We braved a few fences and barbed wire here and there. All in all, a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
After three weeks in Italy, back in the Netherlands for the week's walk, this time again at the Zouweboezem, but this time combined with the Achthovense Uiterwaarden and Polder. A beautiful walk along the Lek River and past the apple orchards between Lexmond and Sluis in Vijfheerenlanden. And for dessert, the oasis of the Zouweboezem. A wonderful morning!
Part of the route on the floodplains is not accessible. The stormy weather did not make it easier but it did make it pleasant
Today I walked the Molenkadepad (clog path). This path has been open since March 2026. There is parking available at the starting point. You begin in the floodplains of the River Lek, after which you pass through fruit orchards into the Achthoven polder. A beautiful Dutch polder landscape.
