Your 30-kilometer tour begins in Dülmen, very close to the castle gardens, and initially takes you through the town. Then you head out into the countryside towards Buldern, through Buldern itself, and on to Buldern Lake. The beautiful panorama and stunning natural surroundings make it the perfect place for a break!

The route continues towards Karthaus. Along the way, you'll pass the Karthäuser Mühlenbach nature reserve with its beautiful scenery, half-timbered houses, and small lakes. There are also plenty of secluded spots for resting and observing nature.

The next stops on your route are the former Karthaus Monastery and the Karthaus workshops, which feature a charming shop and more lovely rest areas.

Next, you'll enter the Welter Bach nature reserve. This protected area encompasses stream meadows, wetlands, Galloway cattle, and numerous bird species that use the area as a resting, breeding, or feeding ground.

Onward we go, and the route holds one more little surprise: the Alte Leuster Schule shelter. A shelter and rest stop in a beautiful setting! It's a great place to stay for a while if the weather suddenly turns bad.

Now you'll cycle a pleasant stretch before returning to your starting point through Dülmen.

As part of a former monastery complex, the listed monastery church of St. Jakobus now functions as a parish church. Not only is it a beautiful building from the outside, but you can also admire some treasures inside, such as the wrought iron Rococo grille from 1752 and choir stalls from the middle of the 14th century.

Welter Bach nature reserve

Highlight • Natural

The protected areas in the Welter Bach valley are part of a large, intact grassland complex with active stream dynamics. Farmers cultivate the wet meadows in a natural way with Galloway cattle. The protected area serves as a resting place, breeding or feeding area for many bird species, such as snipe, lapwing and kingfisher. It's worth taking a short detour to the viewing platform, from where the Galloway cattle can be observed.
