This route was planned by komoot.
Nice hike with an adventure factor. I wouldn't recommend it after it's rained though. Almost everyone seems to miss the exit from the Barranco because it branches off to the left at a sharp angle. This isn't clear from the Komoot map and the app doesn't say anything about it either. I wanted to mark the spot in Komoot, but the app won't let me set a highlight there. If you see a yellow arrow on the ground pointing in the opposite direction, turn around immediately!
Not for the faint hearted but great fun if you're up for some adventure!
This hiking trail is almost like training for the jungle camp, especially towards the end if, like me, you continue to follow the water. If you like it muddy, water crossings and can also scramble under and over trees and do a bit of climbing, you'll have fun.
The Barranco Azuaje is said to be one of the most beautiful in Gran Canaria. I would sign that. Lots of shade down in the gorge, all full of vegetation and rippling water. But the descent and the ascent at the end of the tour are tough. Not that these are too strenuous, but you have to be careful not to slip. A lot of small boulders and sand on the rather steep paths. Also down by the creek you often step in mud, which can turn the few climbing passages into a slipping party. So make sure you wear good, non-slip shoes! And a bit of fitness to climb up and down a rock on the attached rope. And take enough time to enjoy the great nature down there. There is a large picnic area along the way. It's a great tour. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the way in the end and somehow ended up on another path over the bushes. So, it's better not to run after 😅
