Hiking
As the name suggests, the Archotrail is a must-see for all archeology fans. But this round is also a clear recommendation for anyone who just wants to experience the multifaceted nature of the Weserbergland. On the almost 25-kilometer tour, you can also expect some spectacular views of the Weser Valley and the surrounding landscape.
It starts at the train station in Bad Karlshafen - so you can also travel comfortably by train. Passing the Schmeesser Teich you make your way out of civilization and into the picturesque Reiherbachtal. The motto here is: keep your eyes open! With a bit of luck, you might spot one or two free-roaming Exmoor ponies or Heck cattle.
After a few kilometers through the Reiherbachtal you will reach the small forest settlement of Winnefeld, accompanied by beautiful views. Beautiful nature trails then lead you through the Hutewald to the shore of the idyllic Carolinenteich. A perfect place to bring a picnic!
After you have climbed the vantage points such as "Lug ins Land" and "Sohnreyhöhe", you have the option of adding a detour to the Weser Skywalk shortly before the end of the round. From there you can enjoy an impressive view of the Weser Valley - the perfect end to an unforgettable tour!

I already hiked the Archotrail in the Solling a few years ago, it's practically on my doorstep and stretches between the valleys of the Weser and the Reiherbach. 😉 I liked it much better today. Somehow the paths were in better condition, and …

Unfortunately the fog lingered for too long, so we had no visibility from Lug ins Land or Sohnreyhöhe.😣
Luckily at least there was good visibility and sunshine on the Sky Walk 🤩.
Towards the end we left the hiking trail and hiked on the …

So for me it was previously a white spot on the map. Now I know...
1. that the region is in the Weserbergland in southern Lower Saxony and
2. that there are pretty nice hiking trails here.
