Cycling

This tour takes you from Steinheim along the Emmer River to Emmerthal. You'll start by cycling south, where you'll immerse yourself in the beautiful meadow landscape along the Emmer River. Then you'll change course and cycle north along the river.

On your way to Schiedersee, you'll pass magnificent buildings, such as Schieder Castle. After cycling along the lakeshore and enjoying the view from the viewing platform, you'll continue to Lügde, where you can take a break in the historic town center.

You'll then cycle through the Emmertal nature reserve to Bad Pyrmont. Here, too, it's worth stopping to visit the award-winning spa gardens and castle. Finally, you'll continue through beautiful meadows to Emmerthal, where you'll reach the tour's destination. Here, you'll have access to the Weser Cycle Path or the option of taking the S-Bahn back to Steinheim.

Trail Reviews

Schnucki
September 7, 2023, Emmerthal, Schieder, Steinheim

Vacation --- yeah! And why wander into the distance when the good is so close? So we planned one way to Steinheim through shady forests, saddled up the horse and enjoyed the journey as a destination in the brightest blue of the sky. A real late summer happiness. The Emmertal, always nice; Welsede is now open to car traffic again; the eastern route next to the DB is a pleasant, quiet alternative to the Bad Pyrmont-Lügdes-L 614; the northern cycle path as an alternative to the Harzberger and Höxterstraße Lügde-Schieder is not so comfortable due to the steepness and gravel, but doable (I preferred to push down for the occasion) and quiet in the forest and meadows, I find the eastern Schiedersee variant fascinating; Delicious ice cream in Schieder-Venezia; The castle and park with Schweibach and Entensee are always beautiful; Well, I particularly liked the “Steinheimer Holz” as an alternative to the L 886 at Wöbbel, absolutely recommended. In the Emmerauen near Steinheim, cultural, leisure and sporting activities have been greatly upgraded, including a new avenue with children's sponsors, colorfully painted nesting boxes. Unfortunately, you are no longer allowed to walk under the old, venerable chestnut trees. The circle closed thanks to the efforts of the DB. Oh, and: yoga tree included.
