Cycling through the Bollenstreek: an indispensable activity in the Netherlands. This Tour takes you on an adventure, off the beaten track and towards the undiscovered pearls of this region. Because the Bollenstreek is more than tulip fields!
This 37-kilometre cycling tour starts at Voorhout train station. You can take your bicycle on the train (note: you have to buy a bicycle card for this) or rent an OV bicycle at Voorhout station. You can check whether there are still public transport bicycles available via this link: https://www.ns.nl/deur-tot-deur/ov-fiets/huurlocaties/.
This Tour takes you out of the village, towards the fields between Voorhout and Noordwijk. Here you will be immediately overwhelmed by the well-known sea of flowers. Colored strips full of tulips as far as the eye can see. The fields border directly on the cycle path, so you cycle right past the flowers.
Near Noordwijkerhout you can make a stopover at Villa Brocante. This authentic old cottage is filled with trinkets, ideal for a short break to browse through the antiques.
Between Noordwijkerhout and the dune area you will come across tulip fields again, and then a beautiful view of the dune tops. You cycle through the De Blink nature reserve, between dunes and forest, where you have a good chance of spotting wildlife, such as fallow deer. Tip: The deer are usually most active around dawn and dusk.
You continue your way towards Hillegom and past the oh so famous Keukenhof. However, you do not need to buy a ticket to enjoy the beautiful flower fields. Cycling along the adjacent Haarlemmertrekvaart gives you a great view, and you avoid the tourist crowds.
Between Lisse and Voorhout you will come across an old-fashioned windmill, and even more colorful fields, which are filled with hyacinths and daffodils. You then end the Tour again at Voorhout station. This route is especially beautiful in April and May, when you have the best chance to see the sea of flowers. But the fields, dunes and forests are beautiful all year round!

Original planning was 🅿️ at TOP Sassenheim but because of the flower parade this was now possible. Route started at junction 53.
Free parking station Warmond/Sassenheim. Beautiful varied route.
