This route was planned by komoot.
Yes, the cycle path is predominantly flat, well-paved, and considered an easy road ride. Its construction along a decommissioned railway line ensures a smooth surface, making it suitable for all fitness levels, including families and beginners.
The route offers continuous views of the Mediterranean Sea, vibrant Ligurian scrub, and maritime pines. You'll pass through picturesque coastal villages like San Lorenzo al Mare, Santo Stefano al Mare, Arma di Taggia, and Sanremo. Notable features include panoramic tunnels, bridges, and opportunities to stop at beaches. In Sanremo, the path traverses the Empress's promenade, passing landmarks like the Russian Church and luxury hotels. Key highlights include the Ponente Ligure Cycle Path – San Lorenzo al Mare, the Ospedaletti Old Railway Station Promenade, and the Sanremo Coastal Cycle Path.
Parking is generally available in the towns along the route, such as San Lorenzo al Mare and Ospedaletti, which serve as common starting points. Look for designated parking areas near the path entrances in these coastal villages.
Yes, the path is well-equipped with amenities. You'll find many rest stops offering sea views, as well as numerous catering services, cafes, and restaurants where you can pause and refuel. Bike rental services are also readily available at various points along the route, making it convenient for visitors without their own equipment.
The Ligurian coast generally enjoys mild weather, making spring (April-June) and early autumn (September-October) ideal for cycling. During these periods, the temperatures are pleasant, and the scenery is vibrant, avoiding the peak summer heat and crowds.
As a public cycle path, dogs are generally permitted, but they should always be kept on a leash. Please ensure you clean up after your pet to maintain the cleanliness of the path for all users.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to access and use the cycle path, which is part of the Riviera dei Fiori Coastal Park. It's freely accessible to the public for recreational activities.
The section from San Lorenzo al Mare to Ospedaletti is an out-and-back route, covering approximately 24 kilometers (15 miles) one way. You can cycle to Ospedaletti and then return along the same path to San Lorenzo al Mare, or vice-versa.
Yes, this cycle path is part of a larger network. It significantly overlaps with the Ciclovia Tirrenica and the Ciclabile San Remo - San Lorenzo Al Mare. It also intersects with sections of the Ciclovia Svizzera-Mare and the Via della Costa.
The terrain is predominantly flat and well-paved with asphalt, making it ideal for road cycling. The path follows the route of an old railway line, ensuring a smooth and consistent surface with minimal elevation changes, perfect for an easy and comfortable ride.
The one-way distance is about 24 kilometers (15 miles). For a round trip, covering approximately 48 kilometers (30 miles), the duration can vary based on your pace and stops. On average, a leisurely ride with some stops might take around 3-4 hours for the full out-and-back journey.
The cycle path runs along an old railway line, always along the coast with wonderful views of the sea. It is flat, tarred throughout and sufficiently wide. We recommend.
Before Imperia about 1km gravel, but quite easy to ride, even with the racing bike.
On the way on the old railway line, which (summer '21) between Ospedaletti and San Lorenzo al mare has been expanded to two lanes for cyclists and a pedestrian lane 🚴♀️🌺🌞 Unfortunately I don't get the pictures sorted in the correct order here at Komoot: The route officially begins in Ospedaletti - great bike rental at the former train station; Along the route there are several stations where, in addition to the initial bike rental, there is service and help and, if necessary, replacement bikes; there are also numerous idyllic cafés that are particularly geared towards cyclists. In San Lorenzo the route currently ends in the gravel bed, but the extension to Imperia is already being planned. It is a fantastic tour that offers a welcome cooling off in the tunnels on hot summer days; The views, the route and entertaining stops are fantastic! Have fun cycling afterwards!
2nd attempt with all updates 😬 Top route, which will be further expanded !!
The perfect weather today in Sanremo. 25 km headwind on the way there, and back to Sanremo in high spirits 😉 At the end, wind gusts up to 62 km/h
Finally, with cloudy sky, again to the sea 🌊. Thanks to the navi -update, I also received 2 sea weather warnings. Was good to know 😉😁
All gathered in Ospedaletti to pay our respects to one of our kind.
My absolute favorite tour here in the region 😊
