Easy route leaving from the Urbión Camping Site. The first kilometers are on a paved road without traffic. After seeing the town of Abejar, take the Vía Verde to Soria. The surface is compacted gravel and is in very good condition. You can drive at 20-25 km/h without problem. The Greenway surrounds Soria and ends (in this section) at the train station. I took a side road to the national road that took me to the Decathlon and from there the speed was limited to 50 km/h until the center of Soria, ending in the wonderful Alameda de Cervantes park.
Today we went on another short bike tour. We cycled along the Vias Verdes "Santander-Mediterrános" from the la Teija campsite to Ocenilla. The start was a bit tricky, as we couldn't get directly onto the bike path from the campsite. We had to take detours and go against the traffic regulations. But we made it in the end. The bike path (railway line) leads through pastureland and is located between sierras. Sometimes the valley is narrower, sometimes wider. On the horizon, you can still see snow on the mountain ridges. We cycled a little further than Ocenilla, but we didn't have to. There are no other new impressions if you don't go all the way to Abejar. But that's our next destination anyway. We headed back the same way to Soria, where we were faced with the same problem again: How do we get to the campsite? 🏕️ We only managed it by taking a detour through a new housing project that was just being built. In the evening, we went to the campsite restaurant. The food was simple but good. https://www.cidones.es/ocenilla Ocenilla Ocenilla is a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Cidones. It is located 15 km from the capital, Soria. In the distance, beneath the foothills of the Sierra de Cabrejas, you can see the Pico Frentes. Access is the same as to Cidones, and it is accessed via the N-234. Festivals: St. Anthony of Padua on June 13th and St. Stephen's Day on December 26th. There is a Celtiberian fortress here, part of which still stands today. The economy is based primarily on livestock farming. Among the plants, the oak stands out. Typical dishes include perolo on Christmas Eve and cachula, or pork blood broth.
