Monte Stellu, the summit of Cap Corse (1307m) dominates the Brando Valley. The panorama from its summit is simply superb: you can admire the East and West coasts as well as the tip of Cap Corse, the Balagne as far as Calvi and, in good weather, the Italian coast.
There are no markings (orange or red) after the summit, and they're not marked in foggy conditions. Temperatures in May are still near freezing. The return route is very scree-heavy, then an old road.
Beautiful, demanding, promising and little shady hike in northern Corsica. Parking spaces are available at the entrance, there are no places to stop for refreshments.
