Rocks and castles around Celles - Belgian Ardennes

A fairly varied walk in terms of landscapes. Woods and meadows but also a beautiful descent along the Lesse... Beautiful sunny late autumn afternoon...

The area is known for majestic castles and ancient villages. On this tour, you hike through the valley of the Lesse and some of the most beautiful places in Wallonia. You start in the beautiful little village of Celles, a very old village where everything is built of rubble stone. The climb to the monastery is very worthwhile. It continues over wide field paths through wonderfully remote villages, some of which consist only of a few great stone houses. You follow the course of the Lesse, which has carved itself deep into the slate and limestone plates of the Ardennes in wide curves. On the opposite bank of the Lesse, the “Aiguilles de Chaleux” – the needles of Chaleux – rise steeply into the sky, a fascinating rock formation. It continues uphill with a breathtaking view into the valley to the fairytale castle of Vêves, which can be visited. From there, it is not far to the starting point of the hike. This tour is really highly recommended.

Beautiful walk that offers what has been said: beautiful views and two castles. I myself am very much into off-road and narrow paths. This hike does not meet those requirements. Especially the large first part looks more like a wheelchair path with a lot of asphalt. But then, at the end are the most beautiful parts of the entire walk as far as I am concerned. I also immediately created a highlight. So my advice is to plan that part in any case if you are going to walk here. Have fun!

Our fourth tour in the Belgian Ardennes, this time in the south near France in the Lesse valley. A wonderful area.

Very very nice walk, specially the passage alongside the river. You'll discover 2 Castels.

Beautiful walk. Very varied! Toads are easily accessible. As a result, the weight was bearable.
