Due to the location and the great view of the lake, it gets very crowded when the weather is nice. But the staff is quick and always friendly.

Trail Reviews

GEFINKELT
August 13, 2025, Zell am See 🇦🇹 — Schwalbenwand (2.011 m)

I started in Maishofen and steadily climbed the 🥾Wallingersteig trail, passing beautiful viewpoints of Lake Zell and the Kitzsteinhorn. The trail became increasingly alpine until I finally reached the 🏔️Schwalbenwand summit (2,011 m) – an impressive spot with a sweeping panorama over the Salzach Valley and the Pinzgau Grasberge mountains. From there, I continued down to the ✝️summit cross of the Schwalbenwand near Maishofen (1,895 m), before taking a well-deserved rest on the descent at the cozy 🛖Kammeregg Alm. The return journey took me back down to the valley via the 🥾Kammererweg trail. Overall, a challenging but beautiful tour with around 1,250 meters of elevation gain – for me, the perfect mix of endurance, panoramic views, and a stop at a mountain hut.
