As spectacular and unique as the Mühlbachquell Cave may be - unfortunately it can only be visited by speleologists with special equipment. Only discovered in 2001, it is the only water-active river cave in the Franconian Jura - utopian as a publicly accessible show cave.

On Saturday we listened to and watched a lecture in Mühlbach about the Mühlbachquellhöhle, really very interesting. The cave is not open to the public. The hiking trail partially runs above the cave and is provided with information boards. You get information about the cave and the surrounding area. In some cases there are also children's participation activities where the kids have to get active. The hiking trail is very varied and very well signposted. It's best to go to the information evening beforehand and then explore the hiking trail. The event takes place once a year. Next year probably on October 19, 2024. Further information is available from the KGM (Karstgruppe Mühlbach) https://www.muehlbachquellhoehle.de/
Today a small loop of the Jurasteig is on the plan. The previous stages of the climb were signposted in an exemplary manner, which cannot be said of this round 🙁. The Jurasteig loop can only be found on the information boards, the other directions are often puzzling or contradicting. Smart 🤓 that I had loaded the GPS data from www.jurasteig.de into the Komoot. With that I found the way well and was rewarded with beautiful forest trails. And then from time to time the sun has also sharpened ☀️🌲🌳🌲☀️
