I've been out and about in Hanover 🏙️ quite a few times, doing all sorts of activities. It's the neighboring region of my home base, and I've worked there my whole life. I haven't yet completed the "Green Ring" 💍 in one go. So today was the time... or at least I thought it was this afternoon 🤭. The 80 km long basic ring runs along the outskirts of Hanover. The tour through various landscapes is marked by blue-painted objects 🔵🔵. These can be blue stones, fences, or even benches. I started at the parking lot 🚗 north of Benther Berg ⛰️. It was simply the quickest⚡ way to reach it 😄 for me. "Nature lovers are in the right place on the "Green Ring" – there are numerous lakes, nature reserves, and a variety of animals to see: white storks, red kites, herons, deer, and hares. The "Green Ring" connects several landscape areas. In the north, the route runs through the landscape of the North German Plain, with its geest, Hanoverian Moorgeest, Burgdorf-Peiner Geest, and moors. In the south, it leads through the Loess Börde (Hildesheim Börde, Calenberger Land). In between runs the Leine Valley." The tour led via Velber 🏘️, Ahlem 🏘️, Hinüberscher Garten ⛲ to Garbsen 🏘️, and finally to the Nordhafen ⚓. At the Nordhafen, the "Green Ring" runs directly along the Mittelland Canal. A contrasting picture emerges here: industrial areas 🏗️ on the other side of the canal, the forested areas of the Mecklenheide 🌳🌳 on this side. The route continued via Langenhagen 🏘️, Isernhagen 🏘️, and Altwarmbüchen 🏘️ to Altwarmbüchener See 🚣🏊♀️. Beach and barbecue season had already begun 😀. The route continued via Misburg 🏘️ and Anderten 🏘️, once again along the Mittelland Canal, to the A7 🛣️. Here, the turn towards Kronsberg followed. The highest point of the Kronsberg is the artificial observation hill 👁️ (North Hill) at 118 m. I had been here a long, long time ago and, of course, rode up the short but steep climb again. Here you'll find the best view 👁️ of the city (I mean Hanover... 😉). Then came the South Hill (107 m). I hadn't been there before, but the climb is even steeper 🥵! Laatzen 🏘️, the Leinemasch 🏞️, and Sundern were the next stops. Between Hemmingen-Westerfeld 🏘️ and Arnum 🏘️, I passed Devese 🏘️, Wettbergen 🏘️, and Empelde 🏘️. Then I was almost there. Passing the Empelde forest mountain ⛰️, I reached the Benther Berg ⛰️, and it wasn't far to the starting point 🚗 north of the mountain. 😊
The green ring - a recommendation from Komoot that I rode today and I can also recommend it. Beautiful cycle paths with lots of greenery.
"Juice boost" for frankomoot, who completed this route as an ultra run...
https://www.relive.cc/view/vPOprYgnoEq Today I felt like driving the green ring around Hanover. I parked at Decathlon in Laatzen, in front of the parking lot (they only allow you 2 hours with a parking disc) And then it started straight away via Alt-Laatzen past the Wiesendachhaus in the direction of Wilkenburg.🚴(the Leineauen there are very nice) It continued via Westerfeld (I got lost there once 😊) via Devese to Wettbergen. Passing Benther Berg, we went via Letter in the direction of the Mittelland Canal. Always through small and large green nature.🤩 At the Mittelland Canal we went to Langenhagen where I first ate something .😋 It's really nice past the Silberseesiedlung in the direction of Isernhagen .☺️ I also took a little break at the local recreation area Altwarmbüchener See and listened to nature 👂. Via Misburg we continued on the Mittelland Canal to Anderten.👌🏻 We continued past the Kronsberg back to the starting point. 😃 The green ring around Hanover is very easy to drive and I would drive it again, it's really great.👌🏻👍🏻 I probably loaded an older GPX track from the internet back then because there were no paths here and there.😆 And there is rarely any signage. Conclusion-A beautiful, easy-to-drive path through beautiful green nature. There is no such thing as boredom here.😃 See you recently 🖖🏻🤗🙋🏼♂️.
Unfortunately, it was a bit hazy and the Green Ring in Hanover has seen better days. The signage is no longer up-to-date and a little maintenance of the bike path would be appropriate.
At first I was surprised that the path wasn't signposted; Then the epiphany came: the Green Ring is actually blue. The route is marked with blue objects (steles, stones, ...). A nice, time-consuming tour with lots of right and left turns. We did the tour based on the original (available online at https://www.komoot.de/smarttour/e1078793946?ref=atd ) it is not easy to navigate, many paths were used that were not necessary and only made the tour complicated to do. Nevertheless, it is beautiful.
We definitely wanted to ride it during our time in Hanover 😃. And it was as beautiful as we had hoped. We rode around Hanover on forest, meadow, cycle and other paths. We went through residential areas, industrial areas, new developments, along the Mittelland Canal, over the motorway several times, once again onto the Leine and barely a kilometer straight ahead 🔀🔁🔃🔄. We really enjoyed the route 👍. The weather held up too. And of course the really gusty wind was always coming from the front on the route 😵💫🤭. Tomorrow will be a forced day off, as the weather forecast predicts 95% rain. We will try out the infrared cabin in the hotel. And we mustn't forget the pub either 😁.
