Embark on the Baia di Ieranto loop tour, a moderate hike offering a tranquil escape near the Amalfi Coast. This route covers 2.4 miles (3.8 km) with an elevation gain of 586 feet (179 metres), typically taking about 1 hour and 33 minutes to complete. As you traverse accessible paths, old rock stairs, and winding routes, you will pass through olive groves and Mediterranean scrub. The trail rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, including the island of Capri and its iconic Faraglioni rock formations. You will also discover a pristine pebble beach with crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
While generally considered moderate, the trail requires sure-footedness due to some uneven sections and old rock stairs. Be aware that a lack of shade in summer can increase the difficulty, especially during ascents. Access to the bay is only possible on foot or by kayak, preserving its untouched beauty. Consider visiting during cooler months or early in the morning to avoid the midday sun and enjoy a more comfortable experience.
This area is a protected natural oasis, managed by FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), and is part of the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area. Historically, the bay holds mythological significance, believed to be where the sirens of Homer's Odyssey once dwelled. You can also observe remnants of an old limestone quarry that operated until the 1950s, adding a layer of industrial heritage to the natural beauty.

The area around Nerano, on the Sorrento peninsula, is one of the most unspoiled on the Amalfi Coast. Rocky cliffs and old olive groves characterize the landscape. The hike begins in Nerano at a small shop where you can stock up on water for the expected hot day. The coastal path leads through an old olive grove. These are said to have been planted by Greek settlers. The bay is a protected area. From there you have a great view of Capri and the Faraglioni.
