The 14 kilometer route crosses the town of Millau before forming a loop which surveys the dizzying Causses du Larzac. These natural monuments form magnificent belvederes which reveal wide panoramas and breathtaking views of Millau and its surroundings.
From prehistory to the Middle Ages through Antiquity, the town of Millau has acquired a rich historical and architectural heritage. Its viaduct, inaugurated in 2004, demonstrates the importance of its location, which has always been on a major route. Its natural environment, its relief and a mild climate make it a destination of choice for sports enthusiasts and nature lovers.
The route starts from the Millau railway station which is on the Aubrac line of the Occitanie Rail Tour. The first kilometers wander the streets of the city before crossing the Tarn on the emblematic Lerouge bridge. A few meters after crossing it you begin a steep climb towards Pas Destrech. This is done on the Larzac tour trail. As you enter the forest, the slope becomes steeper.
Finally, you reach the corniche which then reveals a sumptuous panorama of the town of Millau. You continue on a path which runs along the cliffs of the causses for several kilometers. As you progress, new viewpoints open up. You can see, in the distance, the iconic viaduct which spans the Tarn valley.
The descent takes place at Cap de Coste. Like the climb, it runs through a beautiful forest which offers the Creissels waterfalls as refreshment. You then find the banks of the Tarn which you follow until you reach the Lerouge bridge. All you have to do is find your starting point without forgetting to stroll through the city center of Millau.
