The Tremetta ridge takes you along an original route over alpine meadows to the summit of the Moléson. You will also get to know the traditional work of the dairymen on this hike.

The cable car takes you easily to the starting point of Plan-Francey. From there you continue on foot towards the Gros-Plané mountain hut, where you can stop for a break. Here, artisanal cheese production is still carried out according to old traditions. Of course, you can also try the many delicacies on site.

After the culinary delight, continue straight on towards Alp Le Villard. At the next crossroads, turn left and follow the Tremetta ridge path. The name comes from the La Trême river, which has its source nearby. You reach the ridge of the Moléson, where you continue to follow the route. The path climbs slowly and before you know it, you have already reached the goal of this hike: the summit of the Moléson. From the Le Moléson mountain station, which you already passed on the way to the summit of the same name, you can easily reach your starting point by cable car.

Le Moléson Summit

We took the funicular and cable car to the top, and you are greater with an amazing view. It is an easy climb to the top of Le Moleson, and well worth the detour. The first part of the hike down is steep, with some loose rubble,. The route does get easier and then you are treated to lovely fresh smells whilst walking through the trees and the flowers are colourful.

From the Plan-Francey mid-station, we took the Switzerland Mobile Trail 270 over the ridge to the Moléson. The clouds somewhat limited our view, so we concentrated more on the things that were close at hand: soldanella, spring gentian, cowslips, crocuses, and anke balls en masse.

I parked in Moléson-sur-Gruyère and took the funicular to Plan-Francey. I climbed to the summit via the ridge path, following the Gros Plané sign and then the Moléson signs.
I came back down by cable car and funicular.
A total of three trips for 30 CHF/adult.

A spectacular tour with a ridge walk and magnificent views. We skipped the two summit climbs to make the tour a bit easier. The view from up there isn't fundamentally better than from other spots. The ridge walk is the best section and therefore worth all the other efforts. Highly recommended.
