Starting point Hoensbroek Castle Parking lot Nice short and varied walk, to stretch my legs on my 👨🦲♂️ birthday. The temperature quickly rose (more than predicted) and rain is expected tonight, much more tomorrow, we will get the three/four seasons in one day 😎. Ps: Fortunately, the rain weather forecast once again did NOT come true 🥹 Tips for other KOMOOT users: Laervoetpad A peaceful walking path surrounded by greenery and trees. This path leads you past the extensive Dream Pond next to Hoensbroek Castle. Tip from Classic Schep Geleenbeek The Geleenbeek originates in Benzenrade (Heerlen) and flows into the Maas at Stevensweert under the name Oude maas. The town of Geleen owes its name (originally "Op-geleen", the current Oud-Geleen) to its location near the river, which formed the eastern border of the municipality. The length of the Geleenbeek is 45.2 km. The stream gets its name from the Latin name Glana which means "clear stream". Tip from Jeroen Terschuren Typical Limburg village... Nice to walk through. You will also find the Mariakapel and the Kruiskapel here. Tip from Dado Daniel Hoensbroek Castle Visit the impressive Hoensbroek Castle and step back in time. This imposing castle, located in the picturesque Limburg landscape, is one of the largest and best preserved castles in the Netherlands. 0;Explore the centuries-old rooms, stroll through the beautiful gardens and discover the rich history of this historic monument. Tip from Classic Schep
A lovely evening walk/scavenger hunt through the Geleenbeek Valley. With some fun questions. With one incorrect answer, we took second place.
A detour from Hoensbroek Castle, a walk to fill the day after the visit to the castle, not highly recommended for me because of the busy sounds of the nearby highway
