Hiking
Far-reaching views are guaranteed, that's what the circular hike around Hohenneuffen Castle says. But that's not all. On the varied tour you can learn a lot about the fascinating geology of the Swabian Alb on the themed trail, cross the largest volcanic vent of the Swabian volcano, the Jusi, and conquer the Hohenneuffen castle ruins. Finally, the hiking feet are cooled in the Kneipp pool.
Almost 20 kilometers and over 500 meters in altitude - nobody said that discovering the Swabian Alb is child's play. Equipped with a portion of stamina, good shoes and a little surefootedness, the round is easy to do. The starting point is the Raupental hiking car park at the foot of the Jusis near Kohlberg. Tip: It can get crowded here on the weekends, so an early start is advisable. Cheeky goats often besiege your path to the first summit, the Jusi. The volcano is an imposing sight on the Albtrauf, which in itself is worth the few drops of sweat from the ascent. You will be richly rewarded at the top with a view of the Black Forest. If you're feeling hungry, the place with a barbecue area invites you to refresh yourself.
Along the Gustav-Ströhmfeld-Weg, one fantastic view follows the next: You hike over the saddle arch and Hörnle on the ridge between Ermstal and Neuffener Tal - a great view is your companion. Shortly before the Karlslinde you branch off onto HW 1, the Schwäbische-Alb-Nordrand-Weg. You continue along the steep edge of the Albtrauf to the defiant Hohenneuffen castle ruins. Before that, however, you pass a small refuge, walk through the shady forest and stop at the "Glasses" viewpoint: a dream place with a great view of Hohenneuffen Castle. Romantics should be told that this is also one of the top spots at sunset. You continue to follow HW 1, turning for a short distance onto the premium hiking trail "hochgehkeltert", which in turn leads to HW 1. You will pass the Neuffen parking lot rock natural monument, again a brilliant vantage point. Here you spot your next destination: the castle! It's worth a visit, admission is free. Your eyes wander far across the country, paragliders form colorful accents in the sky. The castle restaurant Hohenneuffen tempts you to stop off.
Deeply impressed by the gigantic far-sightedness, your feet overheated, you now deserve a cool down. A Kneipp facility with a rest area is available for this purpose. You can now easily manage the final sprint back to the start. If you arrive by public transport, there is a bus available to Kohlberg.

Otherwise, it's a very pleasant walk, with a stop at Hohenneuffen Castle.
It was really fun and highly recommended for ambitious athletes...👍

In bright sunshine from Kohlberg over Jusi and Hörnle to Hohenneuffen. Via Neuffen we go back to Kohlberg. The route follows the Gustav-Stroehmfeld-Weg and also the HW1 for a large part. Mostly on beautiful paths, only the last few kilometers between Neuffen and Kohlberg are paved. …

The tour is varied, offers forest, meadow, trees, views, history and is one of my favorite tours on the Alb.
