Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Carillon, Honfleur

Highlight • Religious Site

Built in the 17th century, this magnificent chapel is adorned with paintings and model ships offered as votive offerings. Our Lady of Grace is indeed the patron saint of Honfleur and its sailors.

An earlier chapel was founded in 1023 by Richard II, Duke of Normandy, but it was destroyed in 1538 following a landslide. The current chapel was completed in 1613 and was listed as a historical monument in 1938.

From here you have an outstanding view of the city and the Seine with the Pont de Normandie. A steep but not too long path leads down to the town with the famous harbor.
Nearby you will find the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce, which is worth seeing, with a carillon.

Hospital Lighthouse

Highlight • Viewpoint

Here was once the harbor entrance when Honfleur still had a real port - today the tower is due to the silting at a roundabout.

Garden of Notable Figures

Highlight • Structure

The park opened in 2004. Busts of personalities who were born in Honfleur are displayed in small boat-shaped gardens. In the spacious park right next to the Seine you can go for a nice walk. Of course there are also numerous benches for a rest.

Beautiful, varied walk through forests, hills, the town of Honfleur and the beach

Translated by Google

Honfleur is a beautiful place – it's visited by 2,000,000 tourists a year, in addition to us. We arrive on a Saturday, and it's very crowded. I don't want to know what it's like here in August... by Sunday afternoon, it's already much more relaxed. In addition to the lush food scene, there are countless shops selling Calvados and art. Incidentally, a scoop of ice cream costs €3.50 here. After a short climb, we can overlook the town and see the elegant cable-stayed Pont de Normandie bridge. Next stop is a walk in the Bois du Breuil forest. There's chirping in all tones in the dense undergrowth. Down at the mouth of the Seine, there's wind again and a hint of the sound of the sea. Nice walk!
