Basilica of the Trinity

Highlight • Religious Site

Where the 15th and 16th century basilica in Flamboyant Gothic style now stands, there was already a church in the 10th century. Note the gables and pinnacles decorated with leaf work and medieval animal figures like gargoyles. The square bell tower above the portal, named "Tour Sauvage" after architect Le Sauvage, was added in 1828. Inside, the gallery decorated with sculptures and murals on the north side shows a 16th century dance of death and on the south side scenes from the Passion. The baptismal fonts are from the 15th century.

Highlight • Structure

A form of refit is an expression used in the navy which designates an artificial basin which can accommodate ships. In other words, it is a dry dock which allows the maintenance, refit, construction and even dismantling of boats. You have before you a very good example.

November 15, 2024, Cherbourg and the Montagne du Roule — loop from Cherbourg-en-Contentin

City center and up to the top for the museum, now temporarily closed. Nice hike, the gardens are small but beautiful, as is the wandering thru the old alleys of Cherbourg city-center.
