Get ready for an adventurous and varied walk along the Damhertroute. At 6.5 kilometers, this is the longest and most varied route through the Oranjezon nature reserve.
This route introduces you to all the characteristic landscape elements of this area. From the infiltration channels with their colorful dragonflies to the coniferous forest, where you can catch the knocking of woodpeckers if you're lucky. Further on you enter the open dunes, where you can hear the song of woodlarks. Finally, you walk through the damp dune valleys, where the natterjack toads feel at home.
One of the highlights of the Damhertroute is the chance to spot deer. The chance is greatest when you walk on the southern edge of the area.
Your walk starts at the end of a quiet, car-free road (Koningin Emmaweg 22). You can get here on foot or by bicycle. Convenient free bicycle storage is available. If you come by car, you can park for a fee at the public car park at Koningin Emmaweg 26. From there it is only a seven-minute walk to the starting point of the route.
At the starting point you will find an information board with fascinating details about the area and the different routes you can take.
You can arrange access to the Oranjezon nature reserve as follows:
- Children up to 16 years: free entrance.
- Holders of a donor pass from Het Zeeuwse Landschap: free admission for 2 adults upon presentation of the pass.
- Other visitors: €1 per person. Tickets are available at the ticket machine at the entrance.

https://oostkapelle.net/de/oranjezon.php beautiful nature reserve with free-roaming horses and fallow deer. Highly Recommended. There are paths of different lengths that are very well marked.
The longest route in Oranjezon. No deer seen. Also few mushrooms, but yes it is already late in November. You have to pay a euro to walk here. But what is a euro?! It was quiet and peaceful today. Signage is good, only in the beginning a bit unclear and different from the map. Recommended!
Today we went to the Oranjezon Nature Reserve. €1 entry per person, you can't complain. We chose the deer route, naturally hoping to see an antlered animal, which unfortunately didn't happen except for a few droppings. Oh well, sometimes you lose, sometimes the others win. A long stretch past a water-filled anti-tank ditch (I assume they are) dragged on quite a bit, almost like the one at our canal. 🤪 Very varied: sometimes dunes, sometimes forest, sometimes sea. We finished after three hours. It was beautiful.

Superb varied walk in landscapes (forests, dunes, sea view, horses and deer ...). The paths are very well marked and perfectly passable even after a few days of rain. I advise those who have the opportunity to do this walk in autumn, in sunny weather and at the end of the day. The brightness is just exceptional on the surrounding nature! Alain
Beautiful surroundings, 17°C in November🌞 and the best company😃
In the past autumn holiday here walked with very little wind. It was so quiet at the southern part of the route that you could hear the silence. Very beautiful and special!
Dogs are not allowed here! We chose the fallow deer route.
