Great tour into the mountains on an easy path. Partly exposed. Beautiful view of the mountains.
Trail is mainly uphill so get a stick or hiking poles, you may find it useful (there were plenty of woden sticks left by other hikers at the beginning of the trail). Note, we are in a rush to get back for breakfast hence we found it quite intense and sweaty :) if you want to enjoy yourself a bit more, give yourself more time, enjoy!
Arrived today at the actual "destination" of our tour through France & Spain, the Picos de Europa National Park in Asturias, approx. Located 200 km southwest of Bilbao. Accommodation: Casa Asprón, small, nice, loving "pension" in Congas de Onis, Covadonga. The first impression is great and the first short round, short because of the day of arrival, was really special! It's only 8km, but it's quite strenuous because it feels like you only have "steps" on narrow paths with some really steep slopes and you really have to be careful where you step. A maximum of 2km does not go along such paths, in Bulnes de Abajo, La Villa for example, where there are numerous places to stop for refreshments. You should definitely go up to the Castillo de Bulnes, Bulnes de Arriba with the Mirador De Llanedes. Start at the Puente La Jaya hiking car park, about 1km from Poncebos.
Note: Fantastic day going up to the town of Bulnes from Poncebos. The path is mostly cobbled (with more or less loose stone, depending on the area), with some exposed sections with quite a drop and some hard ramps that can get quite sweaty, in short, a good mountain path that you can enjoy because with the views all the evils are taken away. Arriving at Bulnes de Abajo we continue 10 more minutes to reach the Mirador del Pico Urriellu and after resting with a beer in one of the bars in the town, we go up to Bulnes de Arriba to separate into two groups: the hobbits with their grandmother They returned to Bulnes de Abajo to take the funicular that leaves them in Poncebos (lately I have been very "lazy") while my father and I headed down a steep path (with spectacular views) to make a small circular and return to the main path. by which we go up (the Canal del Texu) and return again to the starting point. The GPS between mountains sometimes loses the signal, but in this case, when we cross the little bridge, it connects us with Bulnes de Abajo with El de Arriba in a small circular, it has "gone a little crazy" and has stopped working correctly for me doing some straight lines completely unreal because we have followed the same path as the ascent. Even the slope is wrong because I calculate a positive slope of 530 m. approx. as much (which in 4 kms is not bad at all) not the savagery of 670 that he has given me (or 620 if you look at the difference in level on the minimap... I don't understand these differences). The place is worth it. Beautiful town between spectacular mountains. It's only a few kilometers but it leaves your legs tingling.
A hike through the Tagus River Gorge. The trail leads along a narrow and steep path from the valley station of the "Funicular de Bulnes" funicular in Pancebos to the small mountain village of Bulnes. The village of Bulnes is still inaccessible by car; it has no road connection and until 2001 was only accessible by foot. A funicular connection was only established in 2001. It runs through the middle of the mountain, 2.3 km long and 400 m high (price up and down: €22 per person). It is free for village residents and also serves to transport goods. Only ten people live in the village year-round. They make their living from livestock farming, cheese production, and the produce from their own fields and gardens. In summer, however, things are somewhat different. The funicular, which is a tourist attraction, brings crowds of tourists, who also offer various places to stop for refreshments. A very interesting village worth seeing, with its small houses built of rubble stone and, today, very inviting restaurants. The return journey follows the same narrow path to the starting point of the tour.
