The trail begins on a flat path along the Königsseer Ache river toward Schönau am Königssee. Once there, follow the path to the lakeside restaurant "Echostüberl." Shortly before, turn right, then right again at the next opportunity. Stay left, along the edge of the settlement. Past the "Waldhäuser" on your left, you'll reach Grünsteinstraße, which you follow to the intersection with Breitenbachstraße. From there, continue onto Hammerstielstraße, which leads you past the Hammerstiel parking lot and into the national park. Here, you can always follow the white signs with green lettering/symbols.
Your route takes you past the Schapbachalm and Kühroint-Alm pastures to the turning point just before the Archenkanzel. Here, you'll have to park your bike and continue on foot (approx. 10 minutes). The view of Lake Königssee from the "Archenkanzel" viewpoint is well worth the effort. Return to the end of Hammerstielstraße along the same path. After that, it's best to keep left and follow the signs past Menten towards Berchtesgaden. You can find an overview (interactive map) of the existing cycle paths on our website. Have fun and enjoy your ride! Please ride carefully and pay attention to other national park visitors and road users!
ALTERNATIVE: You can also start at the Hammerstiel parking lot or the Wimbachbrücke parking lot.
NOTE: The view from the "Archenkanzel" viewpoint of Lake Königssee, approximately 750 meters below, is worth it! Only accessible on foot!
BEST MONTHS: June to October
REQUIREMENTS: Very good fitness, helmet (recommended), first aid kit, plenty of food and drink, sunscreen, rain gear, and everything else you might need :).
WHAT TO EXPECT: A challenging mountain bike tour with approximately 1,000 meters of elevation gain, great views, and refreshment stops! Please note that the difficulty ratings provided by tour portals may vary. Your tour planning should be tailored to your physical condition.
INFORMATION ON CYCLING IN THE NATIONAL PARK: Cycling is only permitted on designated trails in the national park to avoid conflicts of use and safety risks, and to preserve quiet zones for animals and plants. The designated trails are signposted throughout the area – look for the white signs with green lettering/symbols. A last greeting from my vacation..🙋♀️ Tomorrow we're going home again but there are still great impressions...🗻😀🌞🥾🦅🚲🚲🥰 Another fantastic bike tour today from Königssee to Kührointhütte am Watzmann (1420m)..🚲🚲 Had a break at the Senneralm a few meters further and enjoyed the great view of the Watzmann...😀🗻🗻 There was also a souvenir from the dairymaid, the Watzmann shower 🥰🗻🗻 We can only recommend the Watzmann view along the tour...🗻🗻

Kühroint is always a great destination. Super hut with acceptable prices. Incredible mountain panorama directly below the Watzmann!
great tour Unfortunately, the app often takes you on paths that are not open to the public. (private property)
The tour was originally supposed to lead to the Gotzenalm. Unfortunately, the first, very steep climb led us directly to a construction site. The tour planner must have been asleep... 🙄 So we changed our minds at the last minute. It was definitely worth it. 😊
Finally back on the bike today after 4 days of rain. I bio my wife with support. We followed in @eli's footsteps and went from Larosbach past the Schapbachalm to Kühroinalm and then to Archenkanzel. The first 10 km were no problem then it became steep and the gradient was constantly between 10 and 18% upwards. The view from the Archenkanzel is magnificent. Eli didn't promise too much. On the way back we stopped at the Schapbachalm and bought cheese. A great tour to end your vacation.
A very beautiful tour, but you need to be in good shape. You should always take the time to enjoy the wonderful views.
The way back from the Kührointalm is not necessarily easy to repeat. We came to a black hiking trail down to the Königssee. It was so steep that we had to push our bikes downhill for about 2 km.
