This route was planned by komoot.
On the third day of my long hiking weekend, I crossed the Rhine bridge near Breisach into France, up to about 1200 meters in the Vosges Mountains – a pleasant relief after the temperatures of the previous two days. From the already very high parking lot, I quickly reached Le Tanet, one of the highest peaks in the Vosges. From there, it was all downhill until, after a short rest with a delicious ice cream, I reached Lac Vert, the Green Lake, the lowest point of my tour. Instead of the short path over the dam, I walked along the rock face around the lake before climbing back up to the parking lot. Except for the somewhat boring section from the lake back up to the parking lot, the trail was consistently very beautiful, even if, with its sometimes quite rocky paths, it was considerably more strenuous than the hike the day before in the Kaiserstuhl, which was almost the same length and had the same elevation gain – definitely more alpine than most of the low mountain ranges at home. I will definitely come back here again.
From the triangle WP on the Route des Crêtes, we continued along the former German-French border from 1870 to 1914. After this beautiful, shady forest section, we climbed in the sun to Le Tanet (Tanneck). A wonderful view in all directions rewarded us. On the other side, we descended again towards Lac vert. Unfortunately, the farmhouse we had chosen for a break was closed—but that's nothing new! 😫 However, after a steep, sweaty climb back towards the car, we did find a lovely hut where we could quench our thirst. The mountain meadows along the way were a dream!
