Railrunnerroutes: From Workum station to Stavoren station

Welcome to this beautiful Railrunner route in Friesland! Today you will take a beautiful walk of 16.8 kilometers from Station Workum to Station Stavoren. During this trip you will be amazed by the raw beauty of the Frisian landscape. You will also pass Hindeloopen, a place you don't want to miss.

Your hiking adventure starts at Workum station, where you are immediately surrounded by the characteristic charm of this old town. The route takes you along the Hylperdyk, where you have a breathtaking view of the vast IJsselmeer.

The route then leads you to the old marina of Hindeloopen, a hidden gem in the region. Here you can experience the tranquility and authenticity of this picturesque village, far away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hotspots. Take the time to stroll through the narrow streets and admire the traditional houses and boats.

After Hindeloopen you arrive at the beautiful Bocht fan Molkwar nature reserve. As a bird lover, this is a place you definitely don't want to miss. The area is home to a range of bird species, and you can admire them up close from the bird hide.

Eventually you reach your final station Stavoren, where you can take the train back home. But don't leave Stavoren immediately! First, stroll through the old streets, taste the local specialties and admire the historic architecture that bears witness to the rich history of this port city.
