Today we took the mountain railway to Bergkastel. The peaks around them were all powdered - as we weren't allowed to enter in winter 2021, we were very happy to see this. We then went to the reservoir, to the bunkers and anti-tank traps. We stop for a break on the way back in the Stieralm, there you can simply eat great.
Beautiful hike from the Bergkastel mountain station in Nauders to the Plamortboden. Past a reservoir, high moor and the well-known anti-tank barriers with their bunkers to a fantastic vantage point over Lake Reschen and Lake Haider to the Ortler massif. The blooming alpine meadows and the scent of the stone pines were the icing on the cake. Fantastically beautiful and definitely someday again. Then maybe with the MTB on the awesome trails on the mountain...
Day 2, today we took the cable car up to the Bergkastel. From there we started the Plamortweg. Passing anti-tank barriers and the historic bunkers, you reach a magnificent vantage point. This offers a magnificent view of the clear Reschensee and the Vinschgau, with its mighty peaks such as the Ortler, Cevedale and the Königsspitze. You return via the Plamorterboden high moor area to the Stieralm.
