Cycling

Embark on a moderate touring bicycle loop through the Broads National Park with the South Walsham Broad and Buckenham Marshes trail from Reedham. This 30.6-mile (49.2 km) route, with a gentle 648 feet (197 metres) of elevation gain, typically takes around 2 hours and 55 minutes to complete. You will cycle along winding rivers, open broads, and expansive marshlands, with views of ancient woodland near South Walsham Broad and the diverse plant life of Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden.

While the majority of the route consists of paved surfaces, be prepared for some unpaved segments that might present a moderate challenge. This trail is well-regarded by local touring cyclists for its accessible terrain and picturesque scenery. As a moderate ride, it requires good fitness, but the relatively flat nature of the Broads generally makes it suitable for various cycling abilities.

The trail is notable for its extensive wildlife viewing opportunities, especially in the Buckenham Marshes, where you might spot barn owls, marsh harriers, kestrels, and peregrine falcons, alongside hares and Chinese water deer. The unique landscapes of winding rivers and vast marshlands provide a distinctive cycling experience, enhanced by charming villages and historic sites along quiet country lanes.
